If you enjoy customizing Android beyond the options available in the standard Settings app, Iconify is one of the most useful tools to explore. It is a free and open-source Android customization application designed to give rooted users much deeper control over the appearance and layout of their device.
The latest Iconify 8.0 stable release is especially important for newer Android versions. For Android 16 QPR1 and later, Iconify 8.0 or newer is the supported version. Requirements Before Installation
Before starting, make sure your device meets the requirements. Iconify requires root access through Magisk, KernelSU, or APatch. LSPosed or another compatible Xposed framework is used for some of the advanced customization features.
Iconify officially targets Pixel and AOSP-based custom ROMs rather than OEM interfaces such as MIUI, One UI, ColorOS, Nothing OS, or Moto UI.
For Android 16 QPR1 and newer releases, use Iconify 8.0 or later.
Install Iconify 8.0
Once you have the APK, open your file manager and navigate to the Downloads folder.
Locate the Iconify 8.0 APK and tap it. Confirm the Android installation prompt and wait a few seconds for the installation to finish.
After the installation is complete, open LSPosed Manager and enter the Modules section.
You should see Iconify listed among the available modules. Tap it and enable the module.
LSPosed may immediately suggest that you reboot the phone. You can skip that initial reboot because Iconify still needs to perform its own internal setup.
Now launch Iconify from your home screen or app drawer.
Because Iconify needs elevated access, Magisk or KernelSU will request root permission. Grant the required access.
Once permission has been granted, Iconify starts preparing its core assets and backend overlay files. You may see automated commands and layout tests running during this process.
Don’t interact with the device while the setup is running. Let it finish completely.
When the initial setup has completed, Iconify displays a reboot button. Tap it and allow the device to restart so that the overlays can be loaded properly.
Customize the Android Interface
After the phone boots back up, open Iconify again.
The home dashboard provides a large selection of customization options.
Under UI and Layout Tweaks, you can modify the number of Quick Settings rows and columns. You can also adjust the status bar height, change element padding, and customize system corner roundness.
These controls are useful if you want to make the interface more compact, spacious, or visually consistent with your preferred design.
Customize Colors and Themes
Iconify also provides extensive theming controls.
You can change the system accent colors and generate custom Monet dynamic color palettes. If you use an AMOLED display and prefer a completely dark interface, Iconify also provides an ultra-clean pitch-black dark mode.
This lets you move beyond the default color combinations supplied by your ROM.
Advanced LSPosed Features
The advanced LSPosed section unlocks even more customization options.
You can customize lock screen clocks, use iOS-style vertical Quick Settings tiles, enable real-time background blur and transparency effects, and choose from numerous battery icon styles.
These features provide much more control over individual Android UI components without requiring you to manually modify system files.
Iconify’s official documentation also explains that LSPosed is optional for many features, while additional LSPosed-based functionality becomes available when the framework is installed.
Important Compatibility Notes
Iconify isn’t designed for every Android phone. Its official project focuses on Pixel and AOSP-based ROMs, so compatibility can vary considerably with heavily modified software.
Also, root modifications can cause boot issues if incompatible modules or settings are used. Having a recovery or another reliable way to disable modules is a good precaution before experimenting with deeper system customization.
