Pixel Launcher Enhanced: Complete Xposed Customization Guide

The Pixel Launcher is known for its clean and minimal Android interface, but its customization options are fairly limited compared with what many advanced Android users want.

Pixel Launcher Enhanced is an Xposed module designed to unlock additional controls for the launcher. Despite its name, it isn’t limited exclusively to Google’s Pixel Launcher. The project also supports Launcher3, making it useful on compatible custom ROMs as well.

With it, you can customize icons, home screen layouts, the app drawer, Recents, navigation space, gestures, and several other launcher behaviors.

Requirements

Before installing the module, make sure your phone is rooted using Magisk or KernelSU if you want features that require root.

You also need an Xposed-compatible framework such as LSPosed.

The supported launcher packages are Pixel Launcher and Launcher3. Compatibility can therefore depend on which launcher your ROM actually uses.

Install the Module

Start by opening your file manager and navigating to the Downloads folder.

Locate the Pixel Launcher Enhanced APK and tap it.

Confirm the installation and wait for Android to finish installing the package.

Once installation is complete, don’t immediately start changing settings. First, connect the module to LSPosed.

Open LSPosed Manager and enter the Modules section.

Pixel Launcher Enhanced should appear in the list. Open it and enable the module.

The most important step here is selecting the correct target scope. Make sure Pixel Launcher or Launcher3 is checked, depending on which launcher you are using.

If the launcher isn’t selected as the target, the module’s modifications may not work correctly.

Once everything is enabled, restart or force-close the launcher as required.

Customize Icons

Open Pixel Launcher Enhanced and start with the Icon settings.

You can force themed icons across installed applications and remove shortcut badges.

The module also lets you adjust icon and text sizing.

On Pixel Launcher, custom themed icon colors are supported, while Launcher3 has partial compatibility for this particular feature.

This makes it possible to create a more consistent home screen without replacing the launcher entirely.

Home Screen Customization

The Home Screen section contains several useful controls.

You can lock the launcher layout to prevent accidental movement of icons and widgets. There’s also an option for double tap to sleep and controls for wallpaper zooming.

If you prefer a cleaner interface, you can hide the top shadow, enable dark status bar icons, remove the At a Glance widget, and remove the default desktop search bar.

Grid controls allow you to change the number of desktop rows and columns. You can also adjust the spacing of the dock.

App Drawer Controls

Pixel Launcher Enhanced also changes how the application drawer behaves.

You can hide the internal search bar, hide specific applications, and still search for those hidden apps when needed.

Additional settings allow you to change the app drawer’s row height multiplier, adjust column counts, and control the drawer background opacity.

This is particularly useful if you want a less crowded app drawer or a more compact layout.

Customize the Recents Screen

The Recents section adds several useful controls to Android’s overview interface.

You can add a dedicated Clear All button, remove the screenshot shortcut, disable live tiles, and modify the background opacity.

There’s also support for a freeform mode gesture, providing another way to interact with supported multitasking functionality.

Miscellaneous Features

The Miscellaneous section contains several smaller but useful modifications.

You can hide the gesture pill and reclaim navigation bar space.

The module can also add a direct entry inside the standard launcher settings and provide a quick option to restart the launcher after making changes.

The quick restart feature is especially convenient because some launcher modifications don’t require a complete system reboot.

Root and Compatibility Notes

Not every feature requires root, but the official project notes that some features do. For example, double tap to sleep and restart launcher require root access.

Because this is an Xposed-based modification, compatibility can also change when Google updates the Pixel Launcher or when a custom ROM changes launcher implementation.

It’s therefore a good idea to keep the module disabled if troubleshooting launcher crashes or unexpected behavior.
